In your own words, please define ‘community of practice’ in general and identify its advantages as a way of doing research.
Community of practice refers to a group of people who work together in a common craft or a profession such as an art band or a tribe with a common profession. They are formed by people who have collectively learned common behavior and practice it in their living. They support research, theory and practice.
The advantages of community of practice is firstly their passion in order to oerfper the activity not that they are paid for it but they are passionate in doing so which improves their skill and knowledge. This can contribute to research as it will prevent breakage of the continuity of their activities. The next benefit is that the members put forward suggestions and each suggestion is a contribution to the community and it broadens their knowledge and it improves team work and consideration of others opinions whole working in groups. It also assists in succession planning and identification of needs. It also prevent extensive loss of skill due to the process of retention that they practice in which they stay at one area even though they receive better offers. They are productive workers who are well engaged that saves time, energy and material and also reduces the generation of waste. They also have a good adaptive capacity and is flexible.
