Discuss key differences between Lewin’s change model and Roethlisberger’s X model.
Lewin's change model describes change occur as result of series of forces working in different directions. The forces are driving forces which are accepted and eliminate the opposing forces.
This can be achieved by three phases:
1.Unfreeze: In whichensure the individual and organization ready for change. Increase the driving forces and eliminate the opposing forces which are resisting the changes.
Driving forces are quality of care eg: professional competence, knowledge, evidenced based practice.
Opposing forces are law, regulations , cost control.
2. Change: Implement change
3. Refreeze: Ensure the changes are become permanent.
Roethilsberger's X model state that the individual attitude affect his or her response to change. Person feel about change determines his or her response. Attitude towards a phenomena based on the previous cumulative experience .
Here two primary forces are influencing an individual perception, attitude and responsevto change.
First Primary forces are cumulative working experience of person.
Second forces are the person function within formal organization.
