In your own words, what are some of the religious restrictions on using contraception, both before marriage and within marriage? How might religious beliefs affect risky sexual activities, or sexual activities that do not include intercourse?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Most of the religions do not believe in contraception and they would not allow contraception , if strictly followed. It wasn’t allowed, since it was believed that acts of love have to be for the purpose of creation.

  • In Roman Catholics contraception had been banned, since se-x did not create anything. In protestianism as well, birth control is not correct.
  • According to Hinduism, birth control is allowed. Rather, abortion would be incorrect, sin, but a formal ban doesn’t exist on birth control.
  • In Islam, their holy book has not made any clear remarks about birth control, but there are statements that promote se-x leading to procreation.
  • Buddhism says that a life should not be killed and thus if contraception is preventing conception, it would be allowed.
  • According to most of these religions, risky se-xual activities is not allowed, except for hinduis, where se-x is considered as a method to attain pleasure, hence activities that do not consist of inter-course are allowed.
