An inappropriate sample size can call into question an entire research project. How can a researcher determine what is an appropriate sample size? Share a research question for any research proposal assignment. What is an appropriate sample size for your proposal? Why?
Yes it very correct to determine sample size but it is also important from where it to be withdrawn. Sample size come under quantity base and appropriate sampling come under quality base but both are important and critical.
E.g. if you withdraw very less sample you can't do analysis in multiple way because for robust research you have to do analysis in 10 time or more than that as well as there are different kind of analysis also.
To determine the appropriate sample size following consideration has to be remember
1. Total yield of final product
2. Actual input of starting material
3. Process loss of product
4. Any spillage during process
5. No. of analysis and analysis method
6. Accuracy during result
7. If you want to reserve sample then that one also.
Nowadays we are involving in new project of drug which we want to introduce in market. For that detail study we have done and sample size we determine as per following
We have to do BET, Bioburden and PH , conductivity, assay and description analysis. So first we went in analysis department and asked operator that how much quantity he need to run the instrument foe exact analysis e.g .If he tell 100 ml then we consider it as 110 ml as 10 ml is spillage and loss of drug. By this way we have determine and we successed also.
