The Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) is an Australian law which directs the treatment of individual data about people.

Individual data is data or a feeling around a distinguished individual, or a person who is sensibly identifiable.

The Privacy Act incorporates thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). The APPs set out norms, rights and commitments for the dealing with, holding, utilize, getting to and adjustment of individual data (counting delicate data).
