Annalise is a support worker who works in a group home for adults with developmental disabilities. Ivan, one of the residents, is a keen fan of the pop group Tame Impala. He has saved for tickets to their concert and asks Annalise to accompany him to the performance. Annalise agrees. She will pay for her own ticket and her employer has agreed to reimburse her costs. Annalise checks that their seats are next to an aisle, as Ivan has epilepsy and although this is normally well controlled by medication, he sometimes has a seizure if he becomes very excited or stressed.

On the night of the concert, Annalise and Ivan travel to the venue by bus. They both enjoy the first half of the concert and at the interval, they buy soft drinks. There is a long queue and they are a few minutes late returning to their seats, which distresses Ivan. Annalise reassures him and they sit down. Partway through the second half of the concert, a small electrical fire breaks out on stage. An announcement asks the audience to leave by the emergency exits.

Annalise and Ivan leave although this takes a long time as the auditorium is crowded and the audience members are pushing each other and trying to hurry. Two people in front of them fall down some stairs and Annalise and Ivan help them to get up.

When they are outside Annalise notices that Ivan is having a seizure. She calls an ambulance and finds a clear space where Ivan can lie down on a bench. She helps him into the recovery position, covers him with his jacket, and monitors him. By the time the ambulance arrives, his seizure has subsided. The ambulance takes him to the nearest hospital and he is kept overnight. Annalise reports the incident to her supervisor by telephone, collects him from the hospital the next day, and takes him back home, where he tells all the staff and residents about their adventures.

Seizure: A sudden attack of Convulsion is called seizure. Example; An epileptic seizure.

1. Risk factor in the scenario: Ivan's Problem of Epilepsy and its triggers ars the risk factor of the case scenario. Epilepsy is a medical condition in which the sufferer experience seizures and blackouts. In some epileptic people seizures are brought on by certain situations. Ivan's seizure triggers are excitement and stress. In this scenario both risk factors were present during the concert. Ivan was excited at first and enjoyed the concert. But during the emergency of electrical fire accident, for quitting the hall , he became stressed. Both factors triggered the seizure in Ivan.

2. To keep Ivan safe during concert, Annalise check their seating ( near to aisle), free from the crowd. She reassured him during his distress over the fact they are few minutes late from the break. Annalise gave him company throughout the concert, never left him.

3. Annalise never breached her duty of care to Ivan. She accompanied Ivan for the concert with the permission of her employer. She was with Ivan, through out the concert, never left him alone . She checked their seating, reassured Ivan during distress.  

During the emergency situation of Ivan's seizure , she provided all possible care for a seizure patient such as:

* find a clear space , where Ivan can lie down

* immediately called ambulance

* Provided him the recovery position to prevent aspiration.

* Covered him with his jackets and monitored him.
