write a research paper on "how smartphones destroyed a generation or affects humanity"?
Introduction
The technological advancement happening across the globe is doing well and swiftly and there are newfangled progresses being made with every passing day; this is possible because of the increasing numbers of wide-ranging programs of technological studies presently being conducted by several scholars working in not-for-profit organizations, universities, and corporate companies, to mention just a few. Currently, the technological progresses being made are very pervasive and very strong within the business setting (Carr, Garcia & Blackstone Audio, Inc. 2015). Therefore, technology may easily be termed as the scientific knowhow to the practical issues that people face in the contemporary world. Undoubtedly, the impacts of technology across the globe are immense and may be grouped into how it currently affects society and how it impacts the business operations and functions.
Technological Impacts on Society
Technology has unquestionably had a great impact on society today. Of course, people encounter such effects in their daily lives. Technology has an impact on the economy’s growth, people’s living standards, and their cultures, among other things. However, it is worth noting that the advantages of technology are “double-edged,” that is some are beneficial while others are destructive.
Technology affects people’s daily lives. The environment is also packed with technology to an extent that people take much of their time for granted without noticing the impact level it has on them until they realize they have no water, electricity, water, and several other necessities (Hope, 2012). Technological advancements have immensely improved people’s living standards. In spite of high inflation rates and increasing levels of unemployment, people are dressing well, living better, and living comfortably, thanks to the advanced technological knowhow, which prompts creativity in individuals.
In addition, technology has a huge effect on every fundamental aspect of people’s cultures, inclusive of rules and how they are enacted, art, health, language, religion, and education, among other things (Carr, Garcia & Blackstone Audio, Inc. 2015). For example, the great advancements in technology within the health care industry have given the physicians an opportunity of treating their clients/patients in virtual environments using media like video conferencing; this technological improvement has as well benefitted the legal sector greatly as it enables the juries to still hear lawsuits of the hard core offenders who cannot be permitted to get in the courtrooms because of safety reasons.
Generally, there are several benefits with improved technology. For instance, with the aid of smartphone technologies, people are capable of talking with their relatives and friends who are living abroad or away from them. Also, with the assistance of the Internet, people can learn new online courses and things (Carr, 2011). Aviation technology has as well enabled people to reach distance locations in hours; places, which took the years to arrive at in the antique times.
People use the all-natural resources accessible to make their lives better. With social media networking sites they are capable of finding their relatives, childhood friends, and crucial events in their lives (Kaufman-Scarborough, 2006). Furthermore, with information technology one is capable of sharing information to all parts of the globe within seconds. Thus, with progressive technological advancements within the agricultural sector, people are able to fulfill food requisites of other individuals across the globe.
With all the progresses made in the world of technology, creative damage results; television, for instance, affects people’s lives negatively because of the frequent movies they watch. Also, synthetic fibers affect the cotton fibers adversely. At times, the emergence of new technological knowhow also leads to adverse effects on the economy’s growth’ for example, watching television might consume all the productive time that one has during the day (Hope, 2012). All the new technological types get into the marketplace along with long-lasting effects, which are most times not predictable.
In certain cases, solving a problem or issue using technology might give rise to other issues. For instance, using the same internet that hastens almost all corporate and social operations, children are usually subject to online games’ addiction with their exercises and physical activities becoming significantly less by the day. In addition, the same sites of social networking, which facilitate communication with friends and relatives living far away, are the same networks, which are generating enmity between best friends and causing multiple divorces of married couples (Carr, 2011). Also, aviation technology poses immense danger health-wise to their employees as well as grave environmental threats. Lastly, with the heavy use of inorganic and organic fertilizers, soils lose their natural fertilities resulting in plants’ extinction.
Conclusion
Although technology negatively affects society in a number of ways, it has immensely helped in making people’s lives better. Technologies have greatly assisted people to become more effective in their daily activities and operations; hence, improving their productivity. In addition, it has helped people greatly to be capable of saving on most resources like money and time. The same technology has worked accordingly in uniting people across the world and turning the universe into a global village that has as well assisted people to overcome their racial, continental, and cultural barriers easily.
