Explain why you couldn't measure the critical angle of total internal reflection for glass-water
boundary.

Solutions

Expert Solution

The actual value of critical angle is dependent upon the two materials on either side of the boundary. Critical angle is defined as angle of incidence that provides an angle of refraction of 90 degrees. Total internal reflection will not take place unless the incident light is traveling within the more optically dense medium towards the less optically dense medium.
