Calculate descriptive statistics for the variable Height by
Gender. Sort the data by gender by clicking on Data and then Sort.
Copy the heights of the males form the data file into the
Descriptive Statistics worksheet of the week 1 Excel file. Type the
standard deviations below. These are sample data. Then from the
data file, copy and paste the female data into the Descriptive
Statistics workbook and do the same.
Calculate the descriptive statistics below for the following data.
You should calculate them by hand and show your work.
X = [ 6, 0, 13, 10, 7, 16, 13 ]
(a) mode
(b) median
(c) mean
(d) 20% trimmed mean
(e) range
(f) interquartile range
(g) sample standard deviation
(h) winsorized sample standard deviation
In a study of about 1,000 families, the following descriptive
statistics were found:
mean height of husband = 68 inches, standard deviation = 15, min
= 56, max = 83
mean height of wife = 63 inches, standard deviation = 15, min =
53, max = 73
correlation coefficient = 0.25
You are interested in predicting the height of the wife from the
height of her husband.
Compute the slope of the regression line.
Compute the value for the intercept,...
When summarizing scale variable data using descriptive
statistics, what do we lose in our understanding of a sample if we
just report the mean and not any measures of dispersion like range
or standard deviation? How does this question apply to a variable
like age or test scores?
In this exercise, we will look at descriptive statistics and how
to explore and summarize data sets. For this, we use the Heart
Disease dataset from the UCI data repository. This dataset consists
of 4 small datasets of people with heart disease admitted to 4
hospitals.
For now, we only work with the file. this data consists of 271
instances with 7 attributes. The attributes are described as
below:
Age: age in years
sex: 1 = male; 0 = female...
The below age variable was inputted into SPSS and the
descriptive statistics output generated. I did the interquartile
range (39) to try and answer Question #4: Are there outliers among
the values of age? provide a rationale for your answer. need help
determining the Q1, Q3 if this is the correct approach to answer
this questions and respond to what's the rationale?

Calculate the required descriptive statistics. Create a sample
composed of at least 9 values. Determine a 95% Confidence Interval
of the Mean. Use in an excel spreadsheet.
