A.I need to calculate the number of moles Al,S, and O atoms in 4.00 moles of Al2(SO4)3
Solution :- Using the mole ratio of the each element with Al2(SO4)3 we can calculate moles of each elementas follows
calculating moles of Al
4.00 mol Al2(SO4)3 * 2 mol Al / 1 mol Al2(SO4)3 = 8.00 mol Al
Calculating moles of S
4.00 mol Al2(SO4)3 * 3 mol S / 1 mol Al2(SO4)3 = 12.0 mol S
Calculating moles of O
4.00 mol Al2(SO4)3 * 12 mol O /1 mol Al2(SO4)3 = 48 mol O
b.calculate # of moles of Mg,Cl, and O atoms in 5.10 moles of Mg(ClO4)2
Solution :-
calculating moles of Mg
5.10 mol Mg(ClO4)2 * 1 mol Mg / 1 mol Mg(ClO4)2 = 5.10 mol Mg
calculating moles of Cl
5.10 mol Mg(ClO4)2 * 2 mol Cl / 1 mol Mg(ClO4)2 = 10.2 mol Cl
calculating moles of O
5.10 mol Mg(ClO4)2 * 8 mol O / 1 mol Mg(ClO4)2 = 40.8 mol O
c.a sample of propane, C3H8, contain 15.2 moles of carbon atoms. How many total moles of atoms does the sample contain
Solution :-
1 mol C3H8 = 8+3 = 11 moles of atoms
therefore
15.2 mol C3H8 * 11 mol atoms / 1 mol C3H8 = 167.2 mol total atoms.
