ANSWER -
according to the ecologist, the only 10 percent of the energy gets transfered from on trophic level to the higher trophich level and this law is called as 10 percent law.
only 10 percent of the energy will pass from a lower trophic level to the higher trophic level, while the rest of the energy either is being used as in the metabolic pathways or is being dissipiated as heat in the environment.
this is the reason why there are maximum to maximum only 4 to 5 trophic level in a food chain or in a food web, starting from primary producers to the top carnivores.
this is one of the most basic and important universal law of the nature and of the ecosystem
th 90 percen energy which is said to be used as in metabolic processes, is used in photosynthesis, or respiration, or breathing, or production of enzymes or other such processes of plants and animals both, and also it is said that energy is dissipiated as heat, it is being seen that a good amount of energy is conitunually liberated out in the atmosphere, when we use thermal vision. this is where and how 90 percent of energy is lost while the 10 percent is being taken up to the next higher trophic level
