Poverty affect the overall wellbeing of individual through structural effects that affect the environment in which they develop and mature.
It leads to marked changes in cumulative risk.Childhood poverty shows a decrease in BMI growth from ages 9 to 17 years .
Cumulative risk exposure during childhood causes increased weight gain.
Life style risk factors such as aging, mal nutrition, infection and exposure to chemical and toxic substances can increase susceptibility to illnesses, poor health , psychological problems and mental health. These life style changes can be a major cause to acquired susceptibility and for increased risk for environmental disease and other health problems.
Vulnerability is an important factor affecting those household which experience poverty .it is defined as the probability, that a household will experience at least one episode of poverty in the near future.
Poor people have to live and work in areas exposed to potential hazards, toxic substances and other harmful conditions while they are less likely to have the resources to overcome when a disaster ocvours.
Diffrent individual react to conditions in different manner hence resilience is not a generalized trait .
It has a negative impact on school success and the social and emotional behaviour of students in schools. Students' personal beliefs about their capabilities were found to affect their motivation and learning , communication and behaviour in schools. In children reared in poverty can become resilient and adaptive.In some cases It may also leads to poor dietary , tobacco use and lack of personal hygiene and poor communication.It may also cause peer pressure and anger issues in adults.
