Expert Solution

1) Five reasons software projects get in trouble:

1. Miscalculated frames:

If budget and time frame are not properly calculated, many software projects fail. Clients want their projects done on time and spend a lot of money for that. Developers want to help and meet the demands and hence agree on shorter time frames that are non-negotiable and unrealistic. This causes problems in overall delivery time.

2. Communication issues:

If there are no proper communication channels, and the environment is also not very participative, ideas don't flow through completely and project promoters and other developers get adrift. Lack of interactions and reviews leads to not understanding the standards entirely and business software will eventually fail.

3. No user participation:

End user involvement is also very important. If users' perspective is not considered and IT projects are going on without any user participation, it will end up in trouble. It is necessary to engage the right kinds of users else results are disastrous.

4. Unfocused sponsors:

Leadership and sponsorship should never be inactive. Because it will easily lead to non-effective projects. There are people in the project who are responsible for utter failure of it but the ignited process of failure is the result of lack of sponsors' participation. As they spend less time understanding the process, the project tends to digress and fail.

5. Technology chase:

Latest technology can be used for big projects and small ones. However, while gravitating towards technology, it is essential to understand the demands of the project. This whole thing should be planned at the stage of designing. Otherwise, objectives are not met and the overall system fails.

2) Business problem of university to be solved by IT:

Just like any other business, a university also needs proper security and administration of the network. This is the major problem that can easily be solved by information technology. It helps in manipulating, transmitting, retrieving, and storing data by keeping other IT aspects in mind. Systems with MS Windows are perfect examples of IT in business. It is used by most professionals in admin tasks and security tasks. It is also vital for the businesses as it helps in managing different activities in an efficient and productive way.
