Why do weight loss and insomnia occur with hyperthyroidism?
Hyperthyroidism is a thyroid gland disorder in which thyroid hormones are secreted in excess. Mainly these thyroid hormones plays a vital role in metabolic activities and because of the over secretion of thyroid hormones such as thyroxine and triiodothyronine, the metabolic activities are highly increased resulting in weight loss. Also the increased levels of thyroid hormones overstimulates the nervous system causing sleep disrtubances. That is why weight loss and insomnia occurs in hyperthyroidism.
