Blue Button initiative is a national programe for the patient's to view their personal health information. They can download and print their information regarding health.

The advantages are:-

1. Easy accessibility.

2. It helps in having communication between phycian and patient about their health issues.

3. It is simple to carry the information in the PDF form or text etc after downloading.

4. Helps to retrieve and track the information of patients related to vaccination status, allergies etc.

5. It can be used as a portable history in future to conduct research.

6. It enables the phycians to have dialogue on certain conditions related to health status of patient

Drawbacks of Blu Button are :-

1.They are not interoperabe ,they cannot be upoaed into another providrs system.

2.The blue button outputs are not machine readable and it causes patient confusion.

3.Duplication of vendor efforts.

Blue Button initiative is trying to enhance there technology so that they can be operable in other systems , making it machine readable and avoid duplication .
