Expert Solution

ANS- Near the time of old age approx 60-65, the majority of the population suffers pain, stiffness, and inflammation in their joints which is caused by the disease called Arthritis.

WHAT HAPPEN IN ARTHRITIS-

Body immune system attacks the tissue of joints, that affect the synovium which is a soft tissue present in joints and are responsible for the production of fluid that nourishes the cartilages and lubricates the joints in our body.

It is very important to protect the joints to prevent the development of arthritis and this can be done by several factors-

  • Control weight
  • Regular exercise
  • Avoid injury
  • Protection of joints

** It is important to take care of these things because they are somehow the cause that results in developing arthritis, so it is the way to where we can minimize the chance of developing arthritis.

  • CAUSE OF ARTHRITIS

The Cause of arthritis depends on the type of arthritis, because there is no such single cause that is responsible for all the type of arthritis. But these are the particular cause that mostly results in a particular type of arthritis-

  • Abnormal metabolism of a body cause pseudogout and gout.
  • Osteoarthritis is inherited from parents to their children.
  • Dysfunctioning of the immune system, results in RA and SLA.
  • Degenerative arthritis caused due to injury.

** Apart from these specific causes there are numerous other causes that are responsible for the development of arthritis. Those are poor diet, and a diet containing high purine (Seafood, red wine, meats) they can lead to gout(a type of arthritis).

  • There are several risk factors are there that can cause arthritis- Age, Sex, Genetic factors, Overweight, Joint injury, Infection, Occupation.
  1. Occupation--> Several jobs are there that require repetitive knee bending and squatting that results in osteoarthritis.
  2. Joint pain---> Injury in joints may lead to the development of osteoarthritis in that.
  3. Genetic factor--->Certain Gene have a high risk of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus development.
  4. Overweight--->Osteoarthritis can also result from overweight and obesity.
  5. Age---> The chance of developing arthritis is highly associated with an increase in age.
  6. Sex---> Mostly women are affected than men.
