Social movements are organized groups striving to work towards a
common goal. Social movement groups are created in an attempt to
create change, to resist change, or to provide a political voice to
those otherwise deprived of a right or a privilege, hence creating
social change. Diversity and inequality result from physical
environments as well as people's physiological features interacting
with political, social, cultural, and economic institutions and
practices, involving contemporary and historical forces. In a bid
to bring attention to diversity and inequality issues, I would
utilize the media as a mechanism of influence. Movements seek media
coverage, specifically favorable coverage for their issues to be
communicated to the public, which in turn influences the public
agenda as well as opinion.
