Case study: 75 year old male recently widowed on limited budget. Patients wife has been sole provider of meals for both cooking and shopping. He does not have cooking skills. He is on a low salt, low fat diet for cardiac history. He has recently lost weight due to depression; not knowing how to cook for self and what foods to buy due to low income. Discuss ways and interventions for this patient to help prevent further weight loss; improve his nutritional status while living independently in the community

Tomato is a cheap and good source for cardiac patient..it contain nutrients and vitamin c and alpha-and beta-carotene..He can add tomato in his siple receipes..Like bread sandwich,salads,and he can make toamto soup..
1cup of cooked rice he can eat daily it gives around 190calories,43grams of carbs and very little fat..
Egg: he can consume 1 boiled egg for lunch or breakfast..Eggs contain good variety of proteins and good source of health fats and omega-3fats..consuming eggs does not increase patient cardiac symptoms..
seeds like pumpkin and flaxseeds having calories and fats ,minerals and calories..He can use this seeds in salads..He can go with rice bran oil..it good for heart..
Dark beans high in fiber and vitamin B and it is a good source for heart and weight gain..
