Dementia means in simple terms loss of memory it can be progressive if not identified and treated at right time.

Some of the important question to be asked to the patient are

  • Personal data( name,age,address, education)
  • Family members and their relationship
  • Past and recent events

There are various causes.Lets see dementia due to depression which leads to variety of systemic changes like tiredness, insomnia, feeling loneliness,not interacting with family and society,low IQ level, feeling very fragile even affecting the health of bones, temporary loss of memory, unable to concentrate,anorexia, constipation.

The diagnostic tests to identify this problem is

  • Complete history collection( forms basis for treating the patient and identify and rectify problems and helping in reversal of disease)
  • Memory test( past and recent events )
  • Mental ability test
  • Brain imaging (any physical injury)
  • Neurological examination (to assess any damages to neurones and knowing cognitive impairments.

These type of dementia can be treated when the cause is treated and patient are recovered.
