Should an individual’s level of function be considered in determining life-saving treatment for patients? If so, who determines what “level of functioning” should be? (250 words, 10 pts)
Individuals level of functions refers to an individual's capacity to handle a circumstances when they are alone. It is essential for a healthcare professionals to handle a patient when they are alone.A health care professional with lack of this function may cause harm to the patient when they offer treatment. In simple a healthcare provider may provide a wrong treatment regimen.A nurse can cause error even in simple patient care services like mobilisation, administration of medication, diet plan ,nursing plan,etc.,
This individual's level of functions can be gained only through adequate knowledge and skills gained from theoretical aspect and from clinical experiences.For instance a nurse working in the ICU comes across a cardiac arrest patient should immediately intervene and provide CPR to save the life of the patient.This is possible only when the nurse has knowledge regarding the patient status and the action for it.The confidence in exhibiting the treatment at this point is considered to be individual level of functions
Level of functioning is a type of scale which can be used to identify and priortise patient problem and care accordingly.This is applicable both in patient care and also for planning appropriate intervention by the healthcare professionals.It is usually determined by the healthcare professionals to prove de appropriate and timely treatment and reduce unnecessary medical problems to the patient.
