Nursing is the employment that has the maximum exposure to infection and disease, being employed in hospital it is absolutely necessary to follow guidelines set accordingly. Nursing is multi-dimensional role like hospital nurses, clinical nurses, community nurses, industrial nurses, nurse researchers, nurse teachers and so on
Here we are discussing about hospital nurses
The working conditions of nurses are many they work in outpatient departments where they are exposed to external sources as well as colonised infective cases.
Then the nurses work in inpatient departments where some are more open in nature and some are closed enclosures. The open environment is exposed to colonised infections and reservoirs of infections and on the other hand closed enclosures like ICU’s OT’s Lab’s etc… where they are exposed to large reservoirs of infections.
The working factors apart from exposure are many inadequate salary, heavy workload leave facilities, facilities provided, weekly off adjustments, working environmental conditions, treatment accorded, equipment’s, discipline, promotions, transfer, no grievances addressed. All these matters the most when we discuss the working environment.
