You want to design a test to support the claim that meat
hot dogs have over 150 calories per serving.
State the null and alternative hypotheses in words.
State the null and alternative hypotheses in population parameters.
What model are you choosing and what assumptions are needed?
null and alternative hypotheses in words
Null Hypothesis, Ho; Meat hot dogs have less than or equal to 150 calories per serving.
Alternate hypothesis, Ha; Meat hot dogs have more than 150 calories per serving.
null and alternative hypotheses in population parameters
Ho;
Ha;
Model we are choosing and assumptions are needed
Here since we have to check whether the that meat hot dogs have over 150 calories per serving. In order to do so we will collect a sample of n number of meat hot dogs and calculate average number of calories and then compare it with the population mean which is 150 is this case.
Suppose we collect a sample of 25 hot dogs, in this case we will use one sample t-test.
The assumptions are as follows
1. Sample size< 30
2. Data is independent.
3. Data is collected randomly.
4. The data is approximately normally distributed.
