1. WHO PAYS FOR US HEALTHCARE? More than half of the costs of Health care is paid by the government which includes the federal, state and the local entities and the one-third of the cost by the insurance companies.
2. WHO PROVIDES US HEALTHCARE SERVICES? The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) provides healthcare services to US. The insight of CMS is to provide valuable existing models as well as ideas to form new models with the goal to improve the quality of care and the patient outcomes.
3. WHO MEASURES HEALTHCARE SERVICE RESULTS ( QUALITY OF LIFE YEARS AND DISABILITY OF LIFE YEARS) ?
The Department of Health and Human Services launched the Healthy People 2020 in December 2010.
GOALS: a) attain high-quality, longer lives free of preventable disease, disability, injury and premature death b) achieve healthy equity, eliminate disparities, and improve the health of allgroups c) create social and physical environment to promote good health and finally d) promote healthy life, development in health and healthy behaviors of all life stages.
NCHS: NCHS is responsible to monitor the work and the effort of the Nation's progress of the goals ( the four overaching goals) towards the target using different sources.
