1. Which of the following represents the phenotype of an organism?
a. |
heterozygous |
|
b. |
dihybrid |
|
c. |
AaBb |
|
d. |
aa |
|
e. |
green pods |
2. The heterogametic sex determines the sex of the progeny. True or false??
1. E. Is the correct option ,. Thet is Green pods. Phenotype is the observable character of an individual which are result of genetic make up. Each charachter of an organism is controlled by one or more genes. Eg. Skin colour in man, height etc. Likewise colour of pods in a plant is result of genetic make up. Heterozygous is combination of dominant and recessive allele. Dihybrid is when two charachters are under observation eg. Dihybrid cross of Mendel. C and d are genetic constitutions which result in a phenotype.
2. The statement is true. In human male has heterogamete XY and females are homogametic XX. It is the father who determine the sex. If x is transfer to progeny and X from mother , the progeny will be female and if Y is transferred from male parent , the progeny will become male. In birds female determines sex which is heterogametic ZW and males are ZZ type. So the statement is true.
