Consider the following statement: “Patronage is the best way to select government employees because it reinforces elections and encourages turnover.” Do you support or oppose this point of view? Address both the legal and the political issues of your answer.
Political patronage is the appointment or hiring of a person to a government post on the basis of partisan loyalty. Elected officials at the national, state, and local levels of government use such appointments to reward the people who help them win and maintain office.Bearfield has argued that patronage be used for four general purposes: create or strengthen a political organization; achieve democratic or egalitarian goals; bridge political divisions and create coalitions; and to alter the existing patronage system.
Appointments to office were based on the needs of the party, rather than a person's qualifications or skills to do the job. Political Spoils System led abuses of political power designed to benefit and enrich the ruling party.
I am strongly against this view because many qualified persons are drawout from the job and unskilled or semiskilled persons gets job through favor of political parties. And this type of appoinment is against the law
