All the nursing actions would help maintain safety in older adults. Every client, may it be of any age is an unique individual and has unique needs which are to be determined and listed on  priority basis and plan the interventions based on the needs identified. Orientation to the client is very important in the hospital/Nursing home etc. New places, new surroundings would become familiar when they are introduced properly, for e.g when the client has elimination need he will go to the lavatory only if he is shown the area otherwise he will be roaming in search of the same and in hurry he may get himself hurted. Encourage assistance with activites should be a practice for patients who require assistance as they are weak and not enough to care for themselves, for e.g the elderly often has habit of having a walk in a room or dormitory area. Some use wheelchair, cane, walker for the support while walking. the nurse needs to accompany the client as there are higher chances of falls if there activity is not observed. Rest is essential to resume the activity. Elderly body get fatigued easily even at the slightest activity. Proper rest and sleep rejuvenates the body and prepares the body further. Activity planning will help to make a timetable for each and everything rest, nutrition, sleep and will increase the quality of life of the elderly individual.
