Elements of Donabedian model:

​​​​​​Donabedian's model has three elements to evaluate the quality in health care.

  • Structural element:

The physical,financial and organisational resources contributing to healthcare delivery.

Ex:geographic location of healthcare facility,hospital building

Number of beds available

Staffs availabilty

  • Process element:

The activities of a health system or healthcare personnel that constitute delivery of health care services.

Ex:services or treatments

  • Outcome element:

A changes in the patients current or future health status(recovery,restoration of body function,and survival) that results from care processes.

  • Efficacy:The best care provided under optimal conditions.

  • Acceptability:Health services that are available accessible and accommodating.
