Solutions

Expert Solution

EXTRACELLULAR FLUID

It is fluid which is located outside the cell

Two types of extracellular fluid-------1.Plasma

2. intersitial fluid

1.The extracellular fluid located between the cell is called intersitial fluid., it consists of 16% of the body weight, it provides the substantial portion of the liquid environment of the body.

2.IT is formed by filtration through the blood capillaries ,it is drained away as lymph

3.It closely resembles blood plasma in composition but contain less protein.

4.It acts as medium for intercellular communication ,delivery of nutrients to the cell, removal of metabolic waste.

FUNCTION

1.Responsible for maintaining the homeostasis in the cell and in the body.

2.Helps to deliver the nutrients to the cell and carry waste from from where it is eliminated.

3.This fluid may contain hormones which will reach the target organ via this fluid.

COMPOSITION

water, fatty acids, solutes like sugars, amino acids, salts, urea, wbc, some amount of hormones and waste products
