Background:
You own a mid-size accounting business. You have been doing the taxes for one particular company for three years. Last month the partners failed to meet you for a quarterly appointment set up two months ago. You call the company to reschedule, and one of the partners tells you, "We have actually switched to another accounting firm." When you ask why, the response is, "I don't really know. That was Jim's decision."
What should you do and how can you arrange to learn the reasons for the defection?
What questions would you ask the partners?
Solution :
The very first thing is a three years client proves out to be a trustworthy one after this long service provided to them and if it was ever a service issue from my end regarding accounting services than they would have not lasted for 3 years with me.
Secondly, they cannot just say it that they have already switched to some other firm after I take a follow up of them. Intimation should be given by them on time if they really had a geniune reason for switching.
Mr Jim, the partner should be asked the reason for delay in conveying there switching decision as when they both didn't turn up a month ago for the meeting which was scheduled two months before that , it seems they had planned long back to switch and didn't let us know about it.
The Time which I had wasted in planning meetings for them, taking there follow up and of course the preparation I did at the back end for the meeting with out knowing that would be going total waste , is the main question I would be asking expecting a honest reply from them.
