What is shared governance? Research your facility's shared governance. If your facility has not instituted shared governance, research to find a facility that does. Shared governance is defined as
partnership oriented organizations where the decision making is
unanimous of all the stakeholders. In simple worlds to be cleared
shared governance is public sector company who's whole ownership is
not belongs to a single person but it is based on partnership of
multiple organizations or person's.
Shared governance is based upon decentralized decision making power
of leading partners of organization considering in account their
expertise on to that subject. It can be considered as unbiased
decision making.
Key elements of shared governance:
1. Collabrative nature : collaborative design of organization is
key element of shared governance.
2. Skill building and education : as shared governance involves
indetailed discussions and hypothesis consideration one can build
the finest skills of healthcare practice and decision making of
clinical hypothesis. It also builts enough confidence in people's
involved to educate them selves with respect to professional and
personal growth.
3. New ideas and opportunities : This is flawless journey of
learning new things all the time and evolving new possibilities
from collective decisions.
4. Healthy work environment: All the staff belonging to such
organizations are involved in decision making practices by regular
session's which helps to maintain healthy environment.
5. Clinically relevant decisions: all the steps taken under shared
governance are mostly with proper background studies which leads to
results of decisions in most relevant and necessary clinical
works.
I my self as a professional healthcare practitioner love to work with such organisation where shared governance is mode of governance as it helps me lot towards my professional and personal growth along with exposure to various operations apart from the nursing such as administration's decision making, management skills , communications skills, presenting skills, etc.
