Eight months after an attack of acute glomerulonephritis, a 38 year old woman was hospitalized for investigation of progressive bilateral leg edema. On examination, she was normotensive and exhibited edema of both ankles. Her face was pale and puffy and she admitted to .frequent minor intercurrent infections.
A. What is the tentative diagnosis ?
B. What biochemical analyses will be ?
a.Tentative diagnosis is not a fixed diagnosis ,it was provisional nothing but differential diagnosis. That means different diagnoses are having same clinical symptoms need to do further investigations to do particular fixed diagnosis
Based on given patient data of both ankle edema, pale and puffy face ,with recurrent infections, these symptoms also present in Deep vein thrombosis , heart failure, Nephrotic syndrome, Heat edema. Patient was suffered with glomerulo nephritis one of complication of this was nephrotic syndrome. These are tentative diagnosis of patient.
b. Biochemical analysis is needed to diagnose the particular disease.In this condition Bio chemical analysis needed is. *Electrolytes analysis like Sodium ,potassium, urea ,creatinine ,in kidney related conditions these may be high. *Blood urea and nitrogen level will be increase. *Electrocardiogram to rule out cardiac conditions along with cardiac enzymes.
