The disorders we have reviewed this week are complex and require an interdisciplinary approach for best patient care. List 3 other health care members that would be helpful to the same client you discussed in Discussion 1 to assist in nutritional education and needs. Explain what roles these team members play and how they would help the client.
Doctor
Sometimes when you get sick, all you need is to sleep and drink
plenty of fluids. Other times, you need to see a
doctor, a specially trained and licensed medical
professional. Everyone needs a doctor, even when
they are healthy, because a doctor not only
manages and cures illness, but also, hopefully, helps prevent
illness and promotes wellness. Having a regular relationship with
your primary care doctor is important and can be
critical in diagnosing potential issues.
Nurse
Nurses play significant roles in hospitals,
clinics, and private practices. They make up the biggest health
care occupation in the United States. Nursing job
duties include communicating between patients and doctors, caring
for patients, administering medicine, and supervising
nurses' aides.
physiotherapist
help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. They maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease.
Dietcian
Nutritionists and dieticians offer expert advice on the benefits and harmful effects of various foods to lead a healthy lifestyle and achieve health specific goals.
