The main function of the legislative branch of government is to make laws. The role of the executive branch in the formation of laws is that they execute or enforce laws forward made in the parliament.
The legislative and the executive both work together not contrary. They both act as complimentary to each other by keeping check. The parliament oversees the appropriations of presidency, it has the ability to investigate and make appointments, it can impeach the president. On the other hand, the executive can also make appointments, scrap off or veto the laws etc. Legislative and executive, come together in the creation and implementation of laws.
