Discuss two major challenges for nurses working with budgeted HPPD established at the national level.
HPPD means hours per patient day. HPPD helps to understand the productivity of the organization. This can be identified by divide total nurses working hours by the total number of patients admitted and plan the budget base on it. This ensures that the hospital is meeting the financial target.
The major challenges for nurses working with budgeted HPPD are
1. Payment or salary of the staff
Base on this HPPD is calculated base on the number of patients admitted. A higher or less the number of admission of patient may affect the payment or salary of the staff. If less number of patient then less payment and high number will provide more payment because of overtime work.
2. Limitation in facilities
The organisation trying to maintain the unit base on limited financial support. This will leads to restriction in using proper equipments and facilities needed by the nurse while taking care of the patient. This interupt in taking proper care for the patient.
