Environmental health project. I am doing it on the effects of smoking and alcohol so which body system will it affect to? How does it affect the teeth, heart lungs, etc? Please start with a abstract with me. I need to write an abstract. One paragraph abstract. Thanks

Smoking effects :

Mouth/ Teeth :

• Tobacco stains your teeth and gives you bad breath.
• Tobacco ruins some of your taste buds, so you won't be able to taste your favorite foods as well.
• Tobacco causes bleeding gums (gum disease) and cancers of the mouth and throat.

Heart :

• Smoking increases your heart rate and blood pressure and causes heart disease and heart attacks.
• If you try to do activities like exercise or play sports, your heart has to work harder to keep up.

Lungs :

• Smokers have trouble breathing because smoking damages the lungs.
• If you have asthma, you can have more frequent and more serious attacks.
• Smoking causes a lot of coughing with phlegm (mucous).
• Tobacco can cause emphysema (lung disease) and lung cancer.

Alcohol Effects :

Teeth

Alcoholics have poor dental health, due to poor oral hygiene. Alcohol also increases the risk of gum infections.

Lungs :

Pneumonia occurs due to an infection in the lungs. Those who havealcoholic lung disease are believed to be more susceptible to this type of infection. * Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is considered a medical emergency because it can so easily lead to death.

Heart :

Increases in your blood pressure can also be caused by weight gain from excessive drinking (3). Heavy drinking weakens the heartmuscle, which means the heart can't pump blood as efficiently. It's known as cardiomyopathy and can cause premature death, usually through heart failure .
