Geriatric patients are prone for falls which leads to many complications. Inorder , to prevent falls the environment in which the patient lives have to proffed . There has to be non slippery tiles in the bathrooms . Support stands and alarm system provides further safety and quality of geriatric patients.

Other safety measures that ensures quality of geriatric patients are :

  • Ensure proper lighting and good ventilation in the place where geriatric patients live.
  • Ensure the wires and chords do not come in the way .
  • Use railed bed to prevent fall from bed.
  • Good hospital design like providing grab bars in geriatric units helps.
  • Organised medical boxes that prevent medication errors ensures the safety and quality as well.
  • Having experienced physicians,surgeons, nurses providing care to geriatric patients prevents accidents and complications.
