Assume that you have three objects. Think and describe whether it is possible to create a state where all three objects are going to be at rest taking gravitational interaction among them into account.
Assume that we have three objects with electric charges, two with a positive and one with a negative electric charge and think and describe whether it is possible to realize such a state where all three are static. Assume that it is not just a single object needs to be static but all three objects
Two masses attract each other, that is force applied by one on other is along the line joining the two. As each mass experiences force from other two, for net force to be zero, two masses must be on opposite side ( if one mass is on it's right other must be on it's left). This must be true for all 3 masses for each of 3 to be static. This is not possible. Only one mass may be in the middle with two other on opposite sides.
Hence all 3 objects can not be static.
Opposite charges attract each other while similar charges repel. If -ve charge is in the middle of two +ve charges, it will be attracted from opposite sides and net force may be zero. Each +ve charge will be attracted by -ve charge and repelled by +ve charge from same side. Hence net force on each positive charge can also be zero and all three charges be static, when placed in straight line with +ve charges at ends and -ve charge in middle at suitable distances.
