1. The movie "A Beautiful Mind" characterizes the story of a brilliant mathematician, the paranoid schizophrenic John Forbes Nash.
2. Nash is an arrogant socially inventive student of mathematics who has spent most of his time trying to find a revolutionary equation in mathematics. In the middle of the film, we discover that half of the places and circumstances in the film are only illusions of the "wonderful" mind of Nash. We find that Nash is experiencing a serious schizophrenic disease.
3. Nash was prescribed antipsychotic drugs but he stopped taking the drugs and therefore his hallucinations returned.
4. These antipsychotics have unwanted side - effects: restlessness, muscle spasm, shaking, dry mouth, or vision blurring.
5. The most effective type of psychotherapy in treating a psychological problem was known for Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy. Cognitive therapy means "therapy that enables people to think and do something new and more adaptable; it must be based on the presumption that thoughts intervene between events and our emotional reaction" and that behavioral therapy should be associated with the cognitive treatment. The approaches to the treatment shown in the film were different. Nash was hospitalized and given antipsychotic medications. He was also given insulin shock therapy towards the middle of the film.
6. Patients with Schizophrenia suffer from non-medical rehabilitation. They are social and vocational education programs that help patients. Various rehabilitation programs include professional counseling, work training, financial management, public transport, and social skills. All the programs help patients return to the self and work well in society
