Teamwork in healthcare setup can be conceived as interaction between staffs of multidisciplinary arena like nursing, laboratory staffs, ra diology staffs for a same purpose, working toward measurable goals from leadership, honest discussion and problem solving in a inter dependent manner.
Importance of adopting teamwork :
1. Complexity of clinical care involving multispeciality approach.
2.Working together reduces the probability of medical error and improves patient safety.
3. Teamwork is focused on communication among the patient, physician, nurse and patient bystanders
2. Challenges in nursing practice:
1. Long working hours - Nurses are forced to work back to back in shifts which affects them physically and psychologically creating fatigue which can lead to medical errors.
2. Workplace hazards - Getting exposure to different infections, serum borne pathogens, skin manifestation due to repeated jandwashes etc.
3. Short staffing- Reduced staff intake causes burnout in the working staffs.
4. Payment - Not all sectors and countries of staffs are been payed adequately.
