Explain how you would teach each age group: School-aged children; teenagers and older adults.
Getting adequate sleep
School aged sleep:
School age children need 10 to11 hours sleep per night. due to
homework,activities they ger late sleep, it cause some common
behavior changes if there is inadequate sleep.
Regular bedtime routine can make them follow proper schedule for
sleep
Explain school children to go to bed early and wake up early at the
same time every day.
Provide a soothing sleep environment that makes them comfortable,
cool, quiet.
Avoid TV, Mobile phone for watching movies and games
Bedtime stories help them to get adequate sleep
Avoid bedtime drinks like coffee, soda, cool drinks, and other
substance that interfere with sleep.
Provide warm milk before 30minutes that induce sleep.
Adolescents:
The average sleep hours they need are between 7 to 7 1/2 hours.
there may be many reasons for them not getting adequate
sleep.
TEach them regular sleep schedule and avoid them to sleep too much
on weekend time.
Afternoon nap for 15 to 20 minutes benefit for them and don't allow
more than 20minutes nap.
Avoid mobile phones, video games, and other stimulating
activities.
take advice from the doctor if they get difficulty sleeping.
Avoid them take any pills, vitamins for sleep.
Advice them to take bath before sleeping.
older adults:
Make sure the older adult's bedroom is well ventilated and
comfortable without any external stimuli for getting adequate sleep
and avoiding them to get a distraction.
Many health issues cause them for getting impaired sleep
patterns.
Make sleep routine for them every day same time.
don't allow them more than 20 minutes naps in the afternoon
Advice them to use the bed only for sleep, not on the sofa and
other places.
Advice them to avoid alcohol, nicotine, and other sleep pills
before sleeping, that may be routine for them that cause sleep
disturbance and they wake from the sleep in between.
Be active in the day hours and do exercise that helps them to sleep
better.
Do reading or listening to mild music that make them get sleep.
