How can we obtain energy from food we eat? Where specifically is the energy in foods?

Solutions

Expert Solution

All parts of the body (muscles, brain, heart and liver) need energy to function. This energy comes from the food we eat.Our bodies digest the food we eat by mixing them with fluids (acids and enzymes) in the stomach. the carbohydrate in the food are broken down into another type of sugar, called glucose this process take place When the stomach digests food, into the bloodstream. The stomach and small intestine absorb glucose and then release . . .glucose can be used immediately as energy or stored in our bodies, to be used later.to use or store glucose for energy our bodies need insulin. Without insulin, glucose stays in the bloodstream, which keeps blood sugar levels high.

specifically is the energy in foods

This stored energy is released every time due to chemical bonds are broken in metabolic processes such as cellular respiration. Cellular respiration is the process by which chemical energy is released from "food" molecules and partially captured in the form of ATP.
