opioid epidemic
Briefly describe the emerging policy challenge in opioid. Based on the readings and resources for this course, recommend strategies that public health practitioners might use to overcome that challenge. Incorporate evidence from scholarly, peer-reviewed journals to support your strategy suggestions.
Opioid epidemic:- we all know the opioid is a well known group of drug used to relieve high grade pain (for example in pain associated with oncological conditions) which are prescribed by medical practitioner .Thus the increased use of these prescribed opioid drugs among the population is called opioid drug epidemic. An initiative has been taken by government to reduced the opioid drug abuse by implementing some polies and strategies like reimbursement polices , incentive health technology systems, encouraging public health care practitioner to use Pain monitoring prescription ,screening and intervention of treatment protocols . We are still facing lot of challenges in minimising the use of opiods by insufficiency of funding for research to determine , understand and reduce the use of opiods in medical management, there is all most no role or we can say minimal role of awareness on community level intervention about opioids drug abuse. Medical practitioner can reduce the use of opioid drug abuse by giving using pain monitoring prescription, screening and assessment of patient for chronic pain, giving of prescription of opioid.promoting the use of opioid formulation that reduce the abuse, screening of claim data, educating the patient about the drug,by urine drug monitoring test , but in spite of all these things there are limitations...like limited ancillary support , lack of time, etc.
