Strengths and limitations of
the descriptive study;
Strengths;
- it provides a multifaceted approach for data collection so that
it help us to give a broader view of the information.
Limitations;
- it can relate to human error in the collection of data.
Coorelational studies'
Strengths;
- it opens up a great deal of further research to other
scholars.
- it allows the researcher to determine the strength and
direction of a relationship which helps the later studies to narrow
down.
weakness;
- it only uncovers the relationships
- it won't determine which variable have the most influence
- time-consuming process
- an extraneous variables may interfere with the
information.
Quasi-experimental studies;
Strengths;
- less time consuming
- less expensive
- can be strenghtened with control groups
- can retrospectively analyse the chnages
weakness
- often incomplete
- difficult to obtain
- not randomised
Experimental studies
Strenghts;
- reseacher have control over variables
- humans perform the experiments
- can be combined iwth other research methods
- use to determine what is best for the population
- provides for greater transferability
weakness'
- chance of occurence of personal bias
- sample may not be representative
- can produce artifical results
- groups may not be comparable
- human response can be difficult to measure
