Use appropriate graphs to interpret the relationship between (i) Final_exam and assignment_grade; (ii) Final_exam and Tutorial_attend; and (iii) assignment_grade and Tutorial_ attend. Carefully interpret and explain.

How would I do it and how do I interpret it on excel?

1. Here we are studying the relationship between two continuous variables - Final score and Assignment Grade. The appropriate graphical representation for the data would be a scatter plot:

We find that no strong pattern appears among the data points, but notice a general upward trend for the data.We may infer that both scores show a moderate positive relationship. It implies that students who score well in Final are also found to score well in Assignments (And vice versa). To numerically measure the strength and direction of the relationship we may make use of Pearson's correlation coefficient:

We get r = 0.472

Next in the following two pairs, we are comparing a continuous variable across more than 2 categories, a primary visual analysis can be done by comparing the mean of the continuous variable across all the categories ( 2,3,4,5,of tutorial attended).

First computing the means of the Final scores and Assignment grades for each of the four categories - 2,3,4,5, using the "AVERAGE" function:

In order to adjust the categories in x- axis : 2,3,4, and 5:

We find that students who attended tutorial 5 scored the highest in both Finals and Assignment.Final scores were lowest for those who attended Tutorial 2 and Assignment grade were lowest for those who attended Tutorial 3.
