Please watch the video CNN: Organ Donation or Assisted Suicide?
Then, please discuss the ethical and legal issues presented by an attempted organ donation of this type.
Do you think this type of organ donation would deter future organ donors? Why or why not?
If the gentleman in this video did somehow manage to donate his organs in the manner described, would an autopsy be required postmortem? Why or why not?
Organ donation or Assisted suicide:
Ethical and legal issues:
Here two seperate request, first euthanasia and second organ
donation after death, showing that organ harvesting after
euthanasia may be considered and accepted from ethical.legal and
practical viewpoints in countries where euthanasia is legally
accepted..Ethanasia and organ retrieval should be kept seperate as
possible..organs shall only be allocated to countries that accept
the transplantation of this type of donar organ..Physician
assisted death(PAD) and Donation after illness are
controversial to some need to increase quantity and quality and
respect donar autonomy..
In this case man he requested his organ to be donated
after physician-assisted death..There are some two seperate process
for legal issues euthanasia and organ failure and guidelines for
organ donation..In future this possibility may increase if it is
legally accepted to provide some comfort to the donar and their
family, considering that the termination of the patient's life may
help other human beings in need for organ transplantation..
Medically aid in dying(MAID) has the
potential to provide additional organs available for
transportation..Accepting to procedure organ donation after MAID is
a way to respect the autonomy of patients, for whom organ donation
is an important value..
