Expert Solution

As an health care administrators and providers we have to follow the principle of ethics while dealing with a patient. We have to consider the importance or needs of the patient and treat them with respect and dignity. We can give priority to the patient than anything else.

In the movie "John Q" the hospital administrators are not following any principles of ethics. They are harming the patient and family in one of the way that the hospital administrators are not accessing or offering care to him and trying to release him to the home. The Archibalds family cannot afford the expenses of organ transplantation.

The hospital is not considering the child condition they are mainly focusing on the ability to pay it is against the principle of ethics.

The ehical dilemma that has been questioned in the film "John Q" are:

*Principle of human dignity

*Principle of beneficience

*Principle of justice

*Principle of humanity/Principle of equality

Principle of human dignity:

In the film the hospital administrators are mainly focusing on money rather than the right of human life. They are not giving any value to the human life or right to live. They are giving value to the money

Principle of beneficience:

It is the act of doing good. Here in the film, the hospital administrators are not following the ethics.Instead of giving the appropriate treatment, asking family to pay the money and they are trying to release the child from the hospital instead of giving priority to the worst condition of the child

Principle of justice:

Here the condition of the child is worst, and they are giving more attention to the money rather than the needs of the patient. The patient condition is very serious, and time by time it is deteriorating. Here we can follow the principle of justice according to the condition.By the application of this principle regardless of their ability to pay and allocation be based on the patients needs rather than giving importance to the money

*Principle of humanity/Principle of equality:

According to this principle treating every one equally. Here we are applying the principle of distributive justice in decision making process. When attempting to make an decision regarding the allocation of organs in organ donation the best way is to treat every one equally

As an health care administrator they have to follow all the pricnciple of ethics and rights of patient. We have to treat the patient according to their needs rather than money. If we are not following the principles of ethics that will result in ethical dilemma in other way harming the patient or not considering the right to care
