Identify TWO ethical principles that can occur with the use of technology in today’s healthcare setting and explain what ethical principles they may violate?
In competency cases, how important is it to listen to a patient to clarify his/her own wishes? What tools or methods do you think would be beneficial to use in assisting patients to make informed healthcare decisions?
1) Two ethical principles that can occur with the use of technology in todays healthcare setting : the rapid growth of technology have revolutionzed the medical care from a very long time, and the medical field is dependent on the new teechnologies and it all together aimed to give the patient best treatment, Autonomy : it is most important basic obligation involved in the healthcare,and it focus on the individual and their right to make their own decision, Beneficence or the duty to operate within the patients best interest .The ethical principles that can be violated are : autonomy:respect for autonomy is one of the fundamental guidlines of clinical ethics in medicine it is not simply allowing patients to make their decision , physicians have an obligation to create the conditions necessary for autonomous choice in others it is easily violated and priciples of privacy is also violated by using the technology in the healthcare. 2)In competency : it is the ability aquire and use knowledge of healthcare related beliefs, attitudes, practices and communication patterns of clients and their families to improve services, etc, by listening to the patient we will come to know the requirement and problems of the patient and what they wish for them to be good health and they history and parents history the environment they live and they finances and by all these we can give the patient best treament for they recovery, informed healthcare decision:by promoting the infromed decision making will imporve the quality of medical care, the ethical priciples support the informed decision making and the patients should be aware of the choices and treatment for their medical care the decision making can be done by the fidelity and relying and informed patient about relevant options present information regarding the consequences of the different options, deccsion aids like papaer based, videos and computer formats etc.
