What is the Lewis Structure for A. Cu2O B. CRO_3^2- C. MnO2 D. MnO_4^1- Pls explain how to do lewis structures with transition metals
Answer- There are given compound and ions and need to draw the Lewis structure. First we need to calculate the total valance electrons each given and then with respect atom first need to draw the one bond to each atom with central atom and then need to full fil the octet as follow –
A)Cu2O- This is the ionic compound in that there is 2 Cu+ and O2-
Total number electrons = (1*2) + 6
= 7
B)CrO32-
Total number electrons = 6+ (6*3) +2
= 26
C) MnO2
Total number electrons = 7+ (6*2)
= 19
D) MnO4-
Total number electrons = 7+ (6*4)+1
= 32
Following are the Lewis structure of each compound –
