Public policy incentive for encouraging health actions among people:
Affordable Care Act is also known as Obama care and is enacted in the year of 2010 with a purpose of reducing the the cost of health insurance . The law was a comprehensive health care law that reformed the existing system of health insurance coverages. Many states were proposed, related public health policies ,in the next years that focused on the promotion of public health. There were incentive health policies also adapted by different States. Incentive health policies are the policies, that provides the people some of incentives,( such as tokens, movie tickets), if they are satisfying a health criteria. For example: Child's immunization status.
Suggestion for an Incentive public health policy , under ACA that can encourage the health behaviour of people, that can promote public health:
Any person with a lifestyle disease such as Diabetes Mellitus or Hypertension or Hyperlipidemia, who is under ACA, if they control their Blood sugar, Blood pressure and Cholesterol levels accordingly through exercise and diet restrictions, for 3 to 6 months can be eligible for an Incentive, of reduced cost sharing for next hospitalization / consultation / any treatment.
For who are uninsured: Public / Government funded hospitals can plan the incentives for their patients, who are not under any Medicaid or Medicare plan. Incentives can be a movie ticket or a gift voucher for whom , who is doing correct follow up for chronic diseases or Mothers who follow regular vaccination schedule for their babies .
