Federal government is responsible for the conduct of national affairs.
Areas such as defence, foreign affairs, trade, commerce, currency, immigration, postal services, travel, telecommunications etc are taken care by the federal government.

2. State Level
The state is responsible for all activiites not stated under the federal responsibility.
Schools, hospitals, conservation, environmnet, roads, railways, transport, agriculture,, sports and recreation, consumer affairs, emergency services etc are covered at the state level.

3. Local Level
The responsibilities of the local government varies greatly in size and character.
If the area is bigger then the responsibility of local government increases and vice versa.
Small areas or towns with less population largely become the part of the nearest big city or place and their local government takes care of them.
Building regulations, constructions, public health, local roads, footpaths,, parks, playing fields, libraries, local environmental concerns, waste disposal, community services etc are the responsibilites of the local government.

The five things that the government does better are :-

1. Environmental issues
Environment is the very important thing to be taken care off in any country. The population is entirely dependant on the environment for its existence. This is a very vast area where an individual alone cannot do anything. Here, the government can only take care of the issues as it has funds and support to maintain.

2. Education
Another very important aspect of an community is providing proper education to its people because it will ensure timely growth and development of the country. The
government knows better how to promote and develop its educational needs so that the each and every citizen is at benefit.

3. Roads and safety
Government is the best body which can take care of the safety issues of its people. Also the construction of roads and its maintenance is done by the government. They know better which area to be developed and where the roads are to be constructed . They make and maintain the roads and make the life of its people simpler.

4. Medical aid
The people of any country are in need of the medical help, emergecies can come up anytime. If proper medical facilites are not there then the people are affected a lot and this inturn will affect the development of the country. The government is responsible for this facility to provide with good and accurate medical facilties to its people time to time when required so that they happy.

5. Trade
Trade is the base of any country's development. With the help of trade only they can flourish. The government aids the trade and commerce industry in any government and develops it the way the country wants so that the people there in are benefitted and the country is also at benefit and the world around comes to know about the existence of the country.

These are few of the areas wherein individual help doesnt matter but it is possible only at a large level with the interference of the government either at the federal, local or the state level. This will ensure smooth functioning of all activities in a country and the people at large will be benefitted and happy.
